Transforming communications with a secure cloud service
Transforming communications with a secure cloud service
How to keep ahead of the game
The cloud will keep you ahead
10 reasons why
People now expect mobility, apps and cloud. They expect video, flexibility and ease of use. They expect the world at their fingers. All functions that your aging business communications solution may struggle to deliver.
There is a better way!
On-premise solutions require a high initial capital investment as well as high recurring support costs to manage, maintain and upgrade the technology. Maintel’s cloud solutions offer predictable costs are all inclusive and cost-effective. Because there is no need to purchase lots of equipment all expenses are operational rather than capex based.
The management of an on-premise solution can be very expensive. Because of the complexity of today’s communications systems, it often takes an entire IT department to effectively manage the solution. A cloud-based solution means that you can outsource all the cost and work to the manufacturer who takes care of the 24/7/365 management. Cloud solutions enable you to focus on your other IT initiatives.
The refresh cycle on technology solutions has shortened to an average of three years. This represents an obstacle for companies as the ongoing technology upgrade becomes a major capital investment. Cloud technology is updated with every new major product release to ensure that the customer always has the latest platform.
With an on-premise solution clients must continue to make large capital investments on new hardware as they grow. They are also left with extra hardware if they downsize. With a cloud-based solution new offices and users can be set up through a self-administered client portal or by calling customer service. It is easy to scale up and down based on your business needs.
5. Vendor Management
With an on-premise solution, the challenge lies in managing multiple vendors for implementation and support, handling separate billing relationships, increased demand for technical experts on multiple platforms and ongoing maintenance, support and upgrade requirements. With cloud-based solutions you get one single vendor for all their communication needs – voice, data and applications.
6. Quality of Service
An on-premise solution is only as reliable as the design and implementation. To guarantee uptime equipment must be managed by an internal IT department. Cloud-based solutions maximise uptime and coverage.
7. End user control
An on-premise solution typically requires vendor intervention to make adds, moves, or changes to a system. This can be costly and is typically charged on a time and materials basis and dependant on technician availability. Maintel’s Cloud solutions include an online administrative web portal with an easy-to-use interface allowing the end user to perform their own adds, moves, or changes at will. Each user will also receive a user web portal specific to their profile.
With an on-premise solution, hardware and software geographic redundancy is challenging to deliver. Cloud-based solutions can provide resiliency and redundancy both within a datacentre and geographically as required.
9. Disaster Recovery
An on-premise solution typically has no disaster recovery capability because the cost of supplying required hardware and design is generally not affordable to implement or support. Maintel’s cloud solutions provide Business Continuity routing to maximise communications coverage for customers.
An on-premise solution typically requires costly upgrades and licensing to add the latest features around mobility if the system you have is current and up to date.
Cloud-based solutions are feature-rich and can provide mobility features ‘in-the-box’ at no additional cost.

Which Cloud is right for your business?
At Maintel we understand how your business consumes technology makes a big impact on cost and quality of service to your employees and customers.
Therefore Maintel offers a wide range of choices to help your business choose the right cloud platform:
- Private Cloud
- Hybrid Cloud
- Public Cloud
Virtual Private Cloud
Private Cloud is a type of cloud that delivers similar advantages to public cloud however it is about generating efficiencies by virtualising the platforms and infrastructure that you own rather than share organisations. These assets can be hosted in your own datacentre, or in a suitable co-location facility. The benefits? There’s the potential for lots more control and security, and it offers lower CAPEX and OPEX costs than a comparable, dedicated on-premise solution.
It's all about blending on-premise with cloud in a package that’s optimised for your business? Hybrid cloud uses a mix of on-premises, private cloud and public cloud services with orchestration between the two platforms. A common scenario might see on-premise (or private cloud) blended with virtual private cloud: the workflow split could allow information to be stored locally, but manipulated or processed in the cloud. It’s perfectly possible to add public cloud to that mix too, with full cloud services integration. An example could be a public cloud CRM, integrated with a contact centre solution delivered as a virtual private cloud/on-premise blend.
Hybrid Cloud works for businesses that want to migrate to the cloud, but in a controlled and integrated manner. It’s also great for businesses that need to keep elements of their service on-premise – maybe because they need to deliver and demonstrate extremely high levels of security – but could benefit if some less sensitive elements of the system were delivered from the cloud.
Public cloud service is provided on software, platforms and facilities that are all shared with other organisations. The shared nature of the solutions makes it highly affordable and scalable – pay as you go pricing, and contracts that allow the service to scale month-by-month are big advantages to businesses experiencing growth or change.

Virtual Private Cloud
Virtual Private Cloud solutions are also hosted in shared, third party datacentres but using a software instance that is dedicated to you, with access to just your business users. As with public cloud, the platforms and other assets in the datacentre are owned by the service provider, freeing the client from the hassle of hardware and software upgrades and so on. It’s generally easier for a business to achieve and demonstrate compliance to process, policy and regulation.
