Time consuming, inconsistent and distracting. Sound familiar?
In business today a huge amount of time is wasted creating and then sitting through poor presentations.
In many organisations PowerPoint is seen as a necessary evil with the task of creating sales, marketing and internal presentations falling to “the person in marketing who’s a bit techie minded”.
In other businesses, the creation of a pitch presentation is akin to organised chaos - design by committee, expensive resources sat debating the minute detail and no-one ever really taking ownership.
Even in those organisations that take a more serious approach to presentations, the end result is rarely a source of pride.
CPD presentations pose an interesting set of obstacles in the already challenging world of presenting.
They need to inform, inspire and engage along the same sort of lines as a sales presentation…but not sell. They need to share sufficient information to warrant CPD points…but not be so dry or academic that they represent a dusty old university lecture.
Like we say, CPD presentations are an interesting challenge.
As with all presentations, the first port of call has to be your audience.
How do you engage with them?
Support them?
Help them retain your message?
Get it right and everyone benefits - audience, presenter, CPD provider.
Get it wrong and first impressions are poor, communication suffers and decisions take longer. Audiences remain a mix of bemused and bored while presenters become frustrated.
No one wins.
Something has to change…which is where Eyeful comes in.
