In order to set up a company page on Facebook, you'll first need to have a profile on there in order to be the admin for your page.
You can use your personal account, or alternatively simply set up a new profile quickly before you start.
This can be done here by going to www.facebook.com
Once you have done that, you'll be sent a confirmation email with a link which you should click to confirm your account. Once that is done, you will be logged in.
You should stay logged in, and click this link to begin creating your Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php
Having clicked the link, you will be brought to a page where you must decide which type of organisation you fall under.
You should select 'Company, Organisation or Institution' and choose 'School' from the drop down menu. Then type in your school's name and select Get Started.
Once you’ve completed this stage, you'll be taken through several sections:
1. About - This a quick Bio of your school to help people identify key information about your school
2. Profile Picture - This should be your school's logo and can be uploaded from your computer
3. Preferred Page Audience - This helps Facebook suggest your page to a particular demographic of people living in certain regions e.g. Men 18-50 in the US.
Once you have added in the aforementioned information and clicked 'save info' you will be taken to your school's Business Facebook page!
Now it's time to customise it and populate it with content.
The cover photo should be 815 by 315 pixels.
Now that your page is visually complete, start populating your page with content.
Facebook allows for unlimited word count as well as being optimised for images and video so there are endless possibilities.
Once you have added sufficient content, it's time to invite people to like your page. You should concentrate on engaging with colleagues, alumni and parents.
