How did you come to be involved in blockchain technology?
"I’ve been involved in the ecosystem for a number of years now and I recognised the technology’s potential early on. As a CEO and Strategy Director it’s my role to try to understand the changes that lie ahead and how those will impact business, culture and society - and then ultimately our, and our clients companies."
"With over 180 significant, world changing emerging technologies on the horizon invariably you have to think outside the box to see how they could morph into something that one day could become disruptive and, or, world changing."
What is the most innovative use case for blockchain that you have come across?
"There are many innovative new products and solutions starting to form but personally I prefer innovations that provide a real benefit to underserved individuals and society. My top pick would have to go to Bitland, a company based out of west Africa who are using blockchain to underpin services that allow individuals and groups in the region to survey land and record title deeds on the Bitand blockchain providing, for the first time, a permanent and audible record of land ownership that can help resolve disputes that so often blight the communities."
"Blockchain potentially provides the internet with the distributed trust network that it needed, but up until now has never had and the possibilities are quite astounding."
Decentralised Autonomous Organisations
Are Decentralised Autonomous Organisations the future?
"It’s looking increasingly likely however the recent hack of DAO doesn’t help their case. Ultimately though, and we’re starting to see the tip of this today, it’s possible to see how AI agents could begin creating their own DAO-like mechanisms and create fully autonomous organisations that don’t have any humans in the loop. At that point we’ll invariably enter into yet another conversation about the future of jobs…"
What is the key message you would like to convey to delegates at The Blockchain Summit in October?
"It’s a message they’ll have heard a million times yet one that most Fortune and FTSE organisations still aren’t yet quite grasping. Change and disruption are inevitable and as new, advanced emerging technologies combine the pace accelerates. In this Century we have already seen two paradigm shifts take place – namely the Internet then the Cloud, now we’re seeing the start of the third, Artificial Intelligence and very shortly after that we’ll see the forth shift, Bots."
"When everything is connected bots will have the capability to turn all of todays existing companies into little more than a dumb pipe."
"So in summary my message would be Adapt, Adapt, Adapt, Faster, Faster, Faster."
