Tech that makes student life easier
The speakers in laptops and tablets aren't up to much most of the time. A wireless Bluetooth speaker is a great way to add a little extra oomph when watching movies and listening to music.
The UE Boom 2 is a great option. Made from mesh and rubberised plastic, it's super sturdy and completely waterproof, so it can be taken to the bathroom, pool or beach.
Best of all, it sounds great and is very, very loud, making it the perfect companion for parties or outdoor fiestas.

The Tassimo Vivy is the ally of any student beset by coursework or late-night fatigue.
This is a teeny machine, easily fitting on a kitchen or bedside. Plus it’s a pod-based, so it can dispense a variety of drinks, anything from espresso to hot chocolate. This also makes it easy to clean. You don’t need to be a barista to use it, just add a drink disc and a push a button. Simple as.
Perhaps most importantly it’s low maintenance and dead cheap. At £35 it won’t break the bank, although the discs cost extra.
